When I began envisioning Persephone, I wasn't simply thinking about starting a business. I was asking a much deeper question:  What would it look like if people experienced money as a source of agency instead of anxiety?

Throughout my career, I have been entrusted with complex responsibilities. As an environmental consultant and later as a Remedial Project Manager with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, I worked alongside Tribal Nations, local communities, government agencies, and responsible parties to advance the cleanup of some of our country's most environmentally significant sites. Those experiences taught me that meaningful, lasting change requires more than technical expertise. It requires listening, collaboration, accountability, and the willingness to steward something larger than ourselves.

Over time, I began to recognize that many of the same principles apply to our relationship with money.

Financial decisions are rarely just financial. They are shaped by our experiences, our families, our beliefs, our fears, and the stories we inherit about our own worth and possibility. I witnessed how capable, intelligent people often felt disconnected from their financial lives—not because they lacked intelligence or motivation, but because they lacked the space, support, and confidence to fully step into their own agency.  I founded Persephone to create that space.

The name Persephone represents personal evolution. In mythology, Persephone's journey reminds us that growth is not always linear and that renewal often emerges through seasons of challenge and change. That symbolism reflects the work we do with our clients. We honor where they have been while helping them intentionally shape where they are going.
